Public service announcement

In the pasti when was called upon in class to perform as an active member of a team, I was always discouraged because there was always someone who would «free ride» and, for What ever reason, not complete their task; leaving myself and other members of the group to complete it for them while they shared in Our grade that they did not earn. My feelings at the beginning of this semester were the same. However, I was pleasently surprised at how well Our team carne together and how everyone perfomed their assigned duties.

At first, because no one knew one another, there was reluctance for everyone to peak up out of shyness. Kim recognized the need for leadership and immidiately stepped into the role. We brainstormed for ideas and it was Kim who ultimately decided Our topic due to an experience she had in the sub’ect. We all decided on team roles as we divided the wo ora Kim took the task of View nut*ge was in charge of the billboards and wallsc the project the com own competencies. r campaign. Joe Jessica handled the bsite.

Throughout rimarily through emails, though we did on several occasions communicate directly over the phone. Everyone was responsive to one another which made the entire project easier. Due to the self-motivation of each of my teammates, the effective use of communication and the complementary skills w Swipe to View nexr page we each brought to group, we were able to put together an effective team to complete the project. Kim, as the marketing director of our group, was in charge of the pitch letter which she spent many hours working on to complete.

Her time and dedication to the project was not represented adequately by the two pages she provided. Most of her time was spent doing the research needed to complete her pitch letter. She called several places, including government agencies, and btained the necessary information we required for the project. She was well organized, presented the pitch to the class in an extremely professional manner and was ultimately an effective team leader. Joe organized the fund-ralsing run. He also created the t-shirts for this event called the «Green Christmas Run».

Because he works for Ford Motor Company, he was able to convince them to sponsor Our event. His contributions to the group were valued. His only shortcoming was that he lacked the presentation skills necessary to make Our presentation to the class. Perhaps he underestimated the preparation required to present his ortion of the project. Needless to say, he underperformed during the presentation which was not fully representitive of his contributions to the group. Jessica, the artist on Our team, created the billboards and wallscapes for Our project.

She also determined the most marketable locations to place them throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Her posters, through their simplicity, were effective in demonstrating their point, in demonstrating their point, and were also able to catch the attention of the target market, holding their interest without needing them to focus on her signs for more than a few seconds. Her presentation to the class was candid as well as professional. My focus for the team was the creation of a website.

This, being the first website I have created, was understandably intimidating for me. didn’t let this deter me though, as the performance anxiety I felt propelled me to learn how to create one. As there was a time constraint, the site was not completed to my satisfaction. However, I do believe that it was effective in its simplicity, user friendly and presented the necessary information. In presenting to the class, was extremely nervous. Despite this, I elieve I performed exceptionally under the stressful conditions.

In the end was satisfied with how we performed as a team. Through strong leadership, effective communication, a diversity in technical competencies and a sense of accountability held by each team member we were able to present the class with a public service announcement under stressful conditions that would have been a far greater task if left to each individual. The exercise was not only beneficial to my skills as a writer but alsa helped me develop team skills that believe Will help me in my professional and educational future. 31_1f3
